How to track an Ethereum wallet (and everything it touches)

One Ethereum address is also an Arbitrum, Base and Polygon address. How to watch a wallet across the whole EVM family from a single paste.

An Ethereum wallet is the least private object in finance: every balance, every transfer, every approval it ever signed is published to anyone who asks. That is bad news for anonymity and great news for tracking, because watching a wallet takes exactly one thing, the address, and zero permissions.

One address, twenty chains

The under-appreciated fact about EVM wallets: the address is the same everywhere. The key behind your mainnet 0x also controls that address on Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, BSC and every other EVM chain, and each chain keeps its own public record of what the address holds there. Tracking tools that make you add chains one by one are doing it wrong; one paste should cover the family.

What “everything it touches” includes

  • Native coins and tokens on every chain where the address has balance, priced where real markets exist.
  • DeFi positions: lending deposits, LP shares, staking. These are contract state, not token balances, and a good tracker decodes them instead of showing a mystery gap.
  • NFTs, valued at floor and labeled as floor, because floor is an estimate and pretending otherwise inflates the total.
  • Approvals the wallet has granted. Not a balance, but part of the wallet’s risk surface; revoking stale ones is basic hygiene.

The spam problem

Every active EVM wallet accumulates junk: airdropped scam tokens with fake billion-dollar valuations, dust from protocols you never used, lookalike tokens designed to bait a click. A tracker that naively sums everything the address holds will happily report you a millionaire. Filtering spam out of the total is not a nice-to-have, it is the difference between a portfolio number and a joke. The same hygiene applies to addresses that imitate your own.

Watch-only is the whole point

None of this requires connecting anything. The private key stays wherever it lives, hardware wallet included, and the tracker reads public chain data. That also means you can watch wallets that are not yours: a whale you follow, a DAO treasury, a friend’s address you were asked to keep an eye on. The chain does not care who is reading.

Reading it in TrueHold

Paste the 0x once and TrueHold reads the whole EVM family, mainnet through the L2s, spam filtered, DeFi decoded, NFTs at labeled floor, with history and PnL. It lands next to your Solana, your Bitcoin and your exchange accounts, in the one total that actually answers how you are doing.

Frequently asked questions

Can someone drain my wallet if they know my address?

No. The address is designed to be public; it grants read access to what the chain already publishes and nothing else. Draining a wallet requires the private key or a malicious approval you signed.

Do I need to add each chain separately?

Not with a tracker that treats EVM as one family. The address is identical across chains, so one paste can cover mainnet and the L2s together.

Why does my wallet show tokens I never bought?

Anyone can send tokens to any address, and spammers do, hoping you will interact with them. Ignore them; a good tracker filters them out of your total automatically.
