When your tool is next

Keep your own list of addresses and exchange accounts somewhere that is not a tracker, export your trades once a year, and delete a closed tool’s API keys on the exchanges themselves. With those three habits a shutdown costs an evening, not your history.

For portfolio trackers in particular, the guide to trackers that shut down and where their users went sorts the replacements by the job the old tool did. For wallets, the Magic Eden Wallet recovery guide shows why the recovery phrase alone is not always enough.

Questions people ask

Most of them were free to use and expensive to run. Indexing chains, paying for price and exchange data and keeping integrations working costs money every day, and a free user who only looks earns nothing. When funding tightens or the market turns, those are the products that go first; several on this page said so when they closed.

On-chain balances and history stay on the chain, so any tracker that reads your addresses rebuilds them. What goes with the tool is its own layer: the names and groups you gave addresses, notes and tags, and the exchange history it had pulled in. The API keys you gave it still exist on the exchanges until you delete them there.

Yes. A closed service no longer uses them, but the keys stay valid on the exchange until you delete them, and whoever ends up with the old database could. The guide to revoking exchange API access shows where the key page is on ten exchanges.

A tool qualifies when its makers shut it down, or folded it into another product so that the original no longer works on its own. A rename with no loss of service does not count. Each entry links to the announcement or to coverage in the crypto press, and the dates are the ones those sources give.

Yes. Quote it, link to it or build on it; a link to truehold.xyz/graveyard is all we ask. If a tool is missing or a date is wrong, write to hello@truehold.xyz with a source and we will update the page.

A tracker that is easy to leave

TrueHold reads wallets by public address and exchanges through read-only keys, and exports to CSV, so nothing you give it is hard to take back or to move.

Names belong to their owners. Missing a tool, or a date is wrong? Write to hello@truehold.xyz with a source.
