Impermanent loss calculator
Enter what the two assets cost when you deposited and what they cost now. The calculator compares your LP position against simply holding, in dollars and percent, and shows where you sit on the curve. Everything runs on your input; nothing external is fetched.

The math, in one breath
A 50/50 pool holds equal value of both assets and keeps the product of its reserves constant. When one asset outruns the other by a ratio r, the pool has quietly sold the winner on the way up, so the position is worth 2√r/(1+r) of the held equivalent. That fraction is never above one: any divergence, in either direction, costs something. A 2× move costs about 5.7%; a 4× move about 20%. Fees exist to pay you for exactly that service, which is why a pool’s fee income, not its APR sticker, decides whether the liquidity trade was worth it.

Questions people ask
The gap between what your deposit is worth inside a liquidity pool and what the same coins would be worth if you had simply held them. It appears whenever the two pooled assets change price relative to each other, because the pool constantly rebalances you toward the loser.
Because it exists only relative to current prices: if the price ratio returns to where you deposited, the loss disappears. Withdraw while the ratio is moved, and impermanent becomes permanent.
Yes, they are the entire reason LPing can still win: fees accrue to the pool and offset the loss. This calculator shows the pure price effect; add your pool’s fee income on top to judge the full trade.
Directionally yes, but concentrated ranges amplify the effect inside the range and change the math beyond it. This calculator models the classic 50/50 constant-product pool.
