Questions people ask

On exchanges, USDT at WhiteBit: 18.43% with a 1080-day lock, as read on November 4 at 13:44 UTC. Onchain, USDT in Kamino on Solana: 38.77% APY. Promotions with a small cap and new-user offers are left out of these figures; each coin’s page lists them.

7.21% on USDC at Bybit, a product that can be left at any time. Flexible rates follow demand for borrowing and move often, some every hour.

From lending. Exchanges lend stablecoins to margin traders, onchain markets such as Aave, Morpho and Kamino lend them to borrowers who post collateral, and some coins, such as USDe, pass on the yield of their own strategy. When demand for borrowing rises, so do the rates.

No yield comes without risk. On an exchange the deposit is the exchange’s to hold; onchain it sits in smart contracts that can fail; a stablecoin itself can lose its peg. A higher rate usually means more risk, not a better deal. Nothing here is a recommendation.

Exchanges mostly quote APR, the simple yearly rate; onchain pools quote APY, which counts interest on interest. The APY vs APR entry shows how to convert one into the other.
