How to track Polymarket positions and PnL
Polymarket positions sit in a proxy wallet on Polygon and are public by its address. Which address to use, what it shows and how PnL is counted.
To track a Polymarket account you need one thing: the address of its proxy wallet, the one shown on the Polymarket profile. Positions, their value and PnL are public by that address, so no login and no API key are involved. The usual mistake is pasting the wallet you sign in with, which holds none of the positions. This guide explains why, what the address shows and how the PnL adds up, checked against Polymarket’s documentation on 2 October 2026.
Which address holds your Polymarket positions?
The first time you trade, Polymarket deploys a proxy wallet for you on Polygon: a one-of-one multisig controlled by the wallet you log in with, whether that is MetaMask or an email login. The proxy wallet is where your positions, which are outcome tokens, and your trading balance actually sit. So the address that matters for tracking is the proxy wallet, and Polymarket shows it on your profile.
What anyone can see from that address
- Open positions: market, outcome, size, average price and current value.
- Profit and loss on each open position, in dollars and in percent.
- Resolved winning positions that have not been redeemed yet.
- Activity: buys, sells and redemptions, with sizes and prices.
- The public profile, if the owner has set one up.
All of it comes from Polymarket’s public data API and the Polygon chain, without authentication. The flip side is that anyone who has your proxy address can read your whole book, so keep the address unlinked from your name if that matters to you.
How PnL works on Polymarket
Every share pays $1 if its outcome wins and nothing if it loses. Buy YES at 40 cents and the position is worth $1 a share if YES resolves, so between purchase and resolution its value moves with the price, and that movement is your unrealized PnL. Markets are resolved through UMA’s optimistic oracle; after that, winning shares can be redeemed for $1 each at any time, with no deadline, and losing shares are worth nothing.
Realized PnL therefore comes from two places: selling before resolution, and redeeming after it. Two things make a naive number drift. Winners that you have not redeemed still sit among your positions, and deposits and withdrawals change the balance without being profit. A tracker has to tell money you moved in apart from money you made, or the PnL quietly includes your own deposits.
How to track a Polymarket account, step by step
- Open your Polymarket profile and copy the address shown there. That is the proxy wallet.
- Paste it into a tracker that reads Polymarket by address. No login, key or signature is needed.
- Repeat for every Polymarket account you use, since each has its own proxy wallet.
- After each resolution, look for unredeemed winners: they stay in positions until you redeem them.
Why a wallet checker is not the same as a tracker
A Polymarket wallet checker answers one question about one address right now: what does it hold. That is the right tool for a quick look at a trader you follow, and our Polymarket tools roundup lists the free ones. Tracking your own money is a different job. It needs the history kept over time, deposits separated from profit, and the prediction book added to everything else you own, because a position on an election is still money at risk.
Polymarket next to the rest of your portfolio
In TrueHold, Polymarket connects by that same proxy address. Open positions are valued at the current price, resolved wins and redemptions count as realized PnL, and deposits and withdrawals are read from the chain so they do not inflate the result. The account then sits in one total with your wallets, your exchange accounts and, if you trade there too, Kalshi. If you are choosing between the two venues, Kalshi vs Polymarket compares fees, access and settlement.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my Polymarket wallet address?
Open your Polymarket profile: the address shown there is your proxy wallet, the one that holds your positions. It is not the MetaMask or email-login wallet you sign in with.
Can I look up someone else’s Polymarket positions?
Yes. Positions, value and PnL are public by proxy address, so anyone can read any account. Looking up an address gives no control over it, and its owner is not notified.
Why does my Polymarket address show no positions?
Usually because it is the login wallet rather than the proxy wallet. Copy the address from your Polymarket profile instead.
When does a Polymarket win count as realized PnL?
When you sell before resolution, or when you redeem winning shares after it. Each winning share redeems for $1, at any time after the market resolves.
Can I track Polymarket and Kalshi together?
Yes. TrueHold reads Polymarket by proxy address and Kalshi through a read-only API key, and counts both into one total with your other accounts.
